Term:

Androecial hood: Lecythis ollaria-type
Definition:

This type of androecial hood turns inward but does not form a complete coil, the vestigial stamens are all the same size, and lack anthers; thus, they are called vestigial stamens.
Notes:

This type of androecial hood occurs in at least Lecythis tuyrana, L. minor, and L. ollaria (the type species for which we have no fresh mateiral). These three species belong to Lecythis sect. Lecythis but species of that section have another, slightly different, androecial hood type called the Bertholletia-type. To see images of fully coiled androecial hoods see either the Eschweilera-type or the Couratari-type.
