Description: Medial section of flower of Lecythis tuyrana based on Galdames 5766 from Ancon, Canal Zone, Panama. Note that this species only forms an incipient, single coil and that all of the vestigial stamens are on the exterior surface of the coil. The androecial hood is once coiled.

Notes:

The androecial hood makes a single turn inward. This is the Lecythis ollaria-type of androecial hood and is the type of the type species of Lecythis. Do not confuse this type of androecial hood with ligule (or hood) swept inward.
