  • Description

    Pileus 5-9.5 cm broad, convex to plano-convex, sticky but not glutinous and suede-like at first, soon becoming viscid and suede-like appearance disappears, white at first to pale yellow (4A3,2), soon becoming (5,6A4); margin with sterile appendiculate fragments when young. Flesh white, unchanging, with mild odor and bitter taste. Tubes adnexed to deeply adnexed, white when young, soon porphyry pink then pinkish brown (7D4), with pores likewise and staining pale brown. Stipe 5-12 cm long, 1-1.5 cm broad, equal and tapered at base or nearly subclavate and tapered at base, white, lacunose-reticulate, moist to subviscid, developing yellowish to orange yellow stains in situ and becoming viscid, with interior white, unchanging, pithy then hollow, developing yellow to orange yellow stains with age.
