Description
Diagnosis: Pileus white, suede-like when young and fresh, .becoming subviscid to glutinous with time and age Hymenophore tubulose, whitish at first, becoming vinaceous pink with maturity. Stipe lacerate-reticulate, white above, developing yellowish stains toward base with age in situ.. Spores imperceptively roughened.

Ectomycorrhiza: Presumed with Nothofagus (New Zeland), and Myrtaceae (Australia, New Zealand).
Distribution: New Zealand, Australia
Commentary: This is the earliest name for a white Austroboletus. Described later from Queensland, Austalia as A. eburneus. Preliminary molecular phylogeny infers they are the same taxon.
