Diagnosis: Pileus white to ivory white, becoming a pale yellow, sometimes with pale pinkish streaks, with a suede-like texture, sticky but not truly viscid, but can become glutinous with age, with a sterile projecting margin when young. Flesh white, unchanging with a VERY BITTER taste. Tubes whitish at first, becoming vinaceous pink. Stipe coarsely alveolate-reticulate, moist to subviscid, white developing yellowish stains toward base with age.

Commentary: Preliminary molecular phylogenetics infers this taxon is the same as Austroboletus niveus described first from New Zeland.
