Is this a paw? No, it's a cactus!

Nathaniel Lord Britton describes this species in The Cactaceae: "...upper areoles on one side of the plant with large tufts of whitish wool 5 to 7 cm long". The common name "old man cactus" has been suggested due to the hair that it grows.
