Red algae like this one are important food sources for many marine organisms, and even humans. Dulse is a well-known snack food, and grows on the northern coasts of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. It is an important part of the diet of coastal peoples from the Pacific Northwest, Canada, the Northeast United States, Iceland, and Ireland.
