Distribution and Ecology - From the West Indies and Costa Rica to the Hylaea, Brazil, and Bolivia. Specimens (cultivated ? or native ?) have been seen only from British Guiana and Suriname, not from the Venezuelan Guayana. BRITISH GUIANA. Dec 1889, Jenman 5638. SURINAME. Cultivated in Paramaribo, Oct 1942, Wood herbarium 52; Kwattaweg near km 13, 19 Jun 1945, Rodenhuis s.n.; Saramacca River, Baboen creek, Garnizoenspad, 19 Mar 1947, Bosbeheer 7.
