Description:

Scandent herb to 2 m tall or more in understory vegetation. Inflorescences terminal, bracts red, flowers orange-yellow. Frequent, few fertile. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
Habitat:

Moist terra firme forest on Tertiary sediments. Terrain hilly, dissected by deep narrow stream beds.
