Georeferencing Method: BioGeomancer, Guide to Best Practices for Georefer (There are multiple bodies of water in Amazonas, Brazil with the name "Arara." The two rivers with the name "Rio Arara" within Amazonas are not in close proximity to Rio Negro, but there is a tributary of Rio Negro named "Igarapé Arara." Assumed Igarapé Arara to be what the locality description is referring to; georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of the mouth of Igarapé Arara in Mun. Manaus, Amazonas, taking into account the added uncertainty of the word "próximo" in the locality description. Used the Google Maps - Earth View to locate the mouth of Igarapé Arara (confluence of Igarapé Arara and Rio Negro). Used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic center of the mouth of Igarapé Arara, on the adjacent shore (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Because of the difficulty in deciding the appropriate nearest named place to the mouth of the stream, georeferenced according to method described in the Biogeomancer Guide to Best Practices for Georeferencing, Near a Feature. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the approximate farthest extent of the confluence of Igarapé Arara and Rio Negro (996.86 m), then doubling this distance (200% of the linear extent of the mouth of the stream). Input coordinates, linear extent (1993.72 m), and measurement error (2.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Biogeomancer Guide to Best Practices for Georeferencing, Near a Feature).)
Coordinate Uncertainty(m): 1997.79
Geodetic Datum: WGS84
Coordinates: (-3.01404, -60.3967)
