Description:

Tree, the trunk 20 cm diam; bark whitish/grey, smooth; flower with the indescribably delightful "fresh" scent (mid day); petals pure white. Two trees here, the largest one cut once near the base, but sprouting back; not evident whether planted or spontaneous. Phenology of specimen: Flower.

Habitat:

Native forest in gorge along Bronx River. Fagus grandifolia becoming dominant here.
