Árbol de 24 pies de alto que se distingue por tener copa extendida, varios troncos torcidos, follaje atractivo, hojas coriáceas, flores grandes blanco amarillento y frutos aromáticos amarillo pálido con rasgos rosados. La infusión de la corteza ha servido como emético y purgante. Las semillas pulverizadas controlan la diabetes, la raíz la epilepsia. Se ha cultivado como árbol ornamental. Se puede observar en bosques, montes, orillas de ríos y riachuelos en elevaciones medias y bajas en Puerto Rico. Nativo de Asia está distribuido en los trópicos del Mundo. Tree of 24 feet of height that is characterized by an extended canopy, several twisted trunks, attractive foliage, leathery leaves, large white yellowish flowers, aromatic pale yellow with pink hues fruits. The infusion of the crust has served like a vomitive and laxative. The pulverized seeds control diabetes and the root has been used for epilepsy. It is has been cultivated like an ornamental tree. It can be found in forests and mounts at medium and low elevations, and along borders of rivers and brooks in Puerto Rico. Native of Asia, it is distributed in the tropics of the World.
