Medial section of the androecium of a flower of Lecythis mesophylla based on R. Aguilar et al. 11119 from the Osa Peninsula, Puntarenas, Costa Rica. Note that the ligule does not form an inward coil. It does, however, have vestigial stamens that are swept inward. The filaments of the stamens in the staminal ring are clavate (= swollen at the apex). In this species the ligule is arched.
