Discussion:

The species description provided here is a translation of the Latin protologue of Knuth (1939).

Eschweilera klugii is characterized by relatively small leaves, short pedicels, small flowers, yellow petals, and minute style. However, it is not clear from the protologue if the pedicel length refers only to that part remaining on the rachis of the inflorescence after the flower falls or to the entire length.

We do not have collections that match all of these features and therefore we are treating this species as incompletely known until a duplicate of the type is studied.
