Term:

Circumscissile capsule
Definition:

Referring to a fruit that opens by an operculum.
Notes:

In dehiscent-fruited Lecythidaceae all species open by a lid called an operculum. The seeds then fall or are taken out of the fruits by animals. The type of dehiscence giving rise to the operculum is called circumscissile. There, are, however, many species of Lecythidacae with indehiscent fruits.
