Description: Open fruit of Gustavia dubia based on J. Batista 1257 from the Darién Province, Panama. The fruit wall appears to be derived from the hypanthium and the pulp derived from the ovary walll and septa. The caruncle is an outgrowth of the seed coat adjacent to the point where the funicle and the aril arise.
