Description: Flower features of Allantoma lineata based on Freitas 521 from Km 41 (Reserve 1501) of the Biological Dynamics of Forest Fragements Project, Amazonas, Brazil. Note that the calyx-lobes are only slilghtly developed, the petals are much longer than wide and are slightly reflexed at the apex, the staminal tube is thick and fleshy, the apices of the filaments are reflexed, a filament stalk is present, and the anthers are versatile. In addition, all of the flower parts are fleshy.

Definition:

A petal apex that turns abruptly inward.

Notes:

The only genus known to have relexed petal apices is Allantoma but this feature is only well documented for Allantoma lineata. All other genera possess species with flat petal apices.
