Term:

in Author
Definition:

The publication of a name by one author(s) in a larger work published by another or other author(s).
Notes:

For example, the name Virburnum ternatum was published in Sargent (Trees & Shrubs 2:37) by Rehder as indicated by the signature "Afred Rehder" at the end of the species description. This name could be cited as Virburnum ternatum Rehd. in Sargent. If only one author is retained, the citation would be Virburnum ternatum Rehd. because Rehder is the one who recognized the species as new and wrote the description. The "in author" is Sargent and, for the most part, the "in author" is not recognized.
