Description: Midrib near petiole section of Couratari asterophora based on Folli 6473 from the Reserva Natural Vale, Espírito Santo, Brazil. Note that there is one larger vascular bundle associated with the midrib, an irregular band of vascular bundles adaxial to it, and a few smaller vascular bundles adaxial to the band. The adaxial surface of the petiole is flat and the petiole is very broadly obtriangular in cross section. The section was made from a rehydrated petiole from a herbarium specimen.
