Description: Burital (in Portuguese), aguajal (in Peruvian Spanish), morichal (in other Spanish-speaking countries) swamp forest. This type of forest is dominated by the buriti (in Portuguese), aguaje (in Peruvian Spanish) or moriche (in other Spanish-speaking countries) palm (Mauritia flexuosa). Trees of Mauritia flexuosa are also found near to homes where they are cultivated for their edible fruits and their fiber-bearing leaves.
