Description: Symmetrical leaves have the blade on each side of the midrib equal (left hand leaf) whereas asymmetrical leaves may either have each side entirely unequal (middle leaf) or only have the bases unequal (right hand leaf). Referring to the form of a leaf in relation to the midrib, if the blade on each side of the midrib is unequal the leaf is asymmetrical.
