Description: Medial longitudinal section of a bud of Lecythis ibiriba based on Popovkin et al. 496 from Bahia, Brazil. Note that the ligule is arched, the vestigial stamens are stalked and slightly swept inward, and the style is obliquely oriented toward the opening into the androecium. Several strongly clavate filaments are seen in this image.
