Title: Part of the protologue of Grias purpuripetala.

Description: The types are cited in the top paragraph. The holotype is deposited at UDBC and the isotypes at UDBC-5 and PSO-6. The numbers after the herbaria of the isotypes indicate how many isotypes are in those herbaria. The leaves of this species are nearly six feet long so that had to be cut into segments of fit to fit on a herbarium sheet. Only one of those sheets can be designated as a holotype while others are designated as holotypes. Not the Latin description of the species is provided in this protologue but, after 1 Jan 2012, a Latin description is not required.
