Definition:

A type of pollen in which the colpi unite at both poles of a pollen grain.
Notes:

In neotropical Lecythidaceae, the pollen is tricolpate or tricolporate. The paleotropical subfamily Barringtonioideae (previously called Planchonioideae, see Thorne, 2000) has a type of pollen, when all of its features are considered, is unique in the flowering plants (Huang, 1994).
