Description:
Diagnosis: Glutinous pileus and stipe with white glutinous veil that may adhere to pileus margin or form an annulus.
Distribution: Mexico, Belize.
Ectomycorrhiza: Pinaceae, Fagaceae
Commentary: Viscid overall, it is essentially identical to B. longicollis from E & SE Asia. The spore size and shape will distinguish them. The veil may or may not form an annulus, but sometimes it forms appendiculate remnants at the pileus margin. The spore apex is traversed by the intercostal fissures, unlike B. jalapensis and B. elatus which have a shallow, circular depression at the apex surrounded by a 'collar' where the ribs (costae) fuse. See SEM's. Until formal recognition, this species had been erroneously called B. jalapensis.
