Description:
Diagnosis: Epigeous, pileate-stipitate, with hymenophore tubular. Pileus squamulose. Hymenophore subdecurrent, with broad pores, palid to cream colored at first, then yellowish to golden brown. Stipe central, glabrous and ribbed above, squamulose below, with whitish basal mycelium. Context ususally unchanging, but slowly pale reddish to pale reddish purple. Basidiospores purple to purplish red to purplish violet with light microscope optics, boletoid to subamygdaliform, with shallow pits (regular to irregular). Hyemnial cystidia present, lageniform, thick-walled. Pileipellis a trichodermium. Clamp connections absent.

Commentary: Phylogenetic inference in Hosen et al (2013) show a sister relationship with Spongiforma.
