Description:

Diagnosis: Basidiomata epigeous, sessile, cerebriform to sponge-like, rubbery-gelatinous; peridium absent. Gleba with locules 2-20 mm broad, irregular in outline. Columella poorly developed, pyriform, cream-coloured, attached to white rhizomorphs. Spores brown to vinaceous brown in mass, amygdaliform, bilaterally symmetrical, rugulose, with an apical pore, reddish brown in water, violet gray in hydroxide, inamyloid, cyanophilic. Cystidia common. Tramal hyphae gelatinous. Clamp connections absent.

Commentary: Phylogenetic inferences published by Hosen et al (2013) indicate a sister relationship with the stipitate Borofutus.
