Description:

Diagnosis: From the protologue: The basidiomata subglobose to ovoid (gasteroid to truffle-like) are up to 4.5 cm in diam, with a rudimentary basal attachment point, with a fibrillose to arachnoid peridium. The gleba is cartilaginous and completely enclosed, red to orange red. then dark red. The spores are longitudinally ridges with sharp ridges, appearing stellate in polar view, with a conspicuous hilar appendage, changing to purplish in KOH mounts.
