Collection Notes: On the specimen packet itself: "In duff under conifers, mostly Hemlocks, where pack horses had been tethered, about 100 yds. up on trail to Paradise Park from Twin Bridges Forest Camp". A hand written note is included in a literature packet attached to the same specimen sheet. It is difficult to read but is beleived to state the following: "#8230 intermedius (Berk.) Melanogaster sp. Z&D or macrosporum Trail to Paradise Park from Twin Bridge Forest Camp, Sept. 3, 1935 About 100 yrds up from camp where park [?] horses had been tethered. In duff under conifers- mostly hemlocks- Large specimens 12x8x6 arm. [?] were found. Very heavy. Exterior warm dark brown. Odor strong, characteristically oily, not exactly like perocene [?]- some say like onion [?] without the tear producing quality- not at all that way to others.- garlic 46 fruit bodoes in the collection One specimen weighed 9 oz.; 3 weighed 1 1/2 lb. Odar of silage [?] Spores obovoid 12-14.2 x 8-10.6 u
