Description:

Pileus 3-7 cm broad, dry, convex to plano-convex, subtomentose, brown (8E7-6), fading to cinnamon (6D6) with occasional flushes of red, eventually becoming dull yellow (4A4), the latter brusing blue, with margin incurved becoming decurved. Flesh yellow, bluing with exposure, up to 2 cm thick, with mild odor and taste. Tubes adnate to subdecurrent, shallow (<2 mm deep), bluing when exposed, with red pores, bluing when bruised. Stipe 5-9 cm long, 10-15 mm thick, subclavate, dry, pruinose generaly overall, bruisng blue,but one with a short reticulum at apex, pink above on a yellow ground, gradually redder below, with interior yellow and bluing when exposed, with white mycelium at base.

Quercus seemannii, Quercus sp. gregarious. soil.
