Argentina. Jujuy. Valle Grande (Dept.). Ca. 2 km S of San Francisco on road to Ledesma. Alt. 1330 m. (4363 ft.)

Description:

Shrub 3 m. tall, 7 cm. in diameter; bark tan. Flowers very few, sweetly fragrant; corolla pale pink, almost white in some. Fruit hanging, dark purple, the younger ones green with darker green then purple stripes. A young plant 2.5 m. tall seen with more flowers, but species is mostly in fruit in this area at this time. No leaf dimorphism, but young plant with leaves 3 times as large as those on fruiting branches. Young leaves reddish purple. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
Habitat:

Steep slopes. With Juglans australis, Acacia tucumanensis, Bougainvillea, Solanum riparium, S. trichoneuron, S. symmetricum, S. betaceum.
