Description:
spore length: 12 - 13.5 microns; spore width: 4 - 4.5 microns; spore shape: subfusiform - spindle-shaped; spore texture: smooth; spore color: pale brown; spore print color: reddish brown. This Genus is also classified as Boletus separans because both mushrooms have the same macrochemical reactions. When young the pores are white becoming yellow as the voucher shows. When old, the pores are ochre brown. The pores are circular and unchanging when bruised. Close examination by Dr. Methven (see annotation above) combined with the 2015 DNA analysis confirmed that this specimen is Xanthoconium separans aka Boletus separans.
