Description:

Pileus 6-9 cm broad, convex, dry, with appressed felty patches, white to buff, eventually black, with some appendiculate remnants at margin. Flesh white, up to 1.5 cm thick, changing to gray then black. Tubes depresssed to deeply depressed around stipe, white then black, when white bruising red then black, up to 1 cm deep; pores concolorous, angular, up to 1 mm broad, bruising like tubes. Stipe 5-8 cm long, 9-15 mm wide, ±equal or tapering below or somewhat broader below, dry, barely alveolate -reticulate but conspicuously so, white staining red then black with handling; interior white, red then black with exposure.

Dry sclerophyll. Allocasuarina. Scattered to gregarious. On soil.
