Description:

Pileus: 44-76 mm, convex, finely matted subtomentose, purple-red to brick red (Methuen 11E3-8E5). Margin even with or extending slightly beyond hymenophore. Context white; too old to note staining reaction, odor, or taste. Hymenophore: poroid, depressed at stipe apex; pores 1.5 (older specimens) -3 (younger specimens) per mm; tubes and pores concolorous, cream-colored becoming orange-brown. Stipe: 43-71 x 8-14 mm, central to slightly off-center, equal to subclavate, solid, white with dense punctate clusters of maroon to red-brown fibrils. Context stains reddish gray when cut. Basal tomentum dense, white. Macrochemical Reactions: All tissues negative with NH4OH, turning light green with 20% KOH.
Habitat:

Montane cloud forest. Quercus copeyensis, Q. seemannii. On soil.
