Description:

Pileus 5-8 cm broad, convex to plano-convex, dry, finely scaly, with erect (on disc) to nearly repent (at margin) pyramidal scales, rhubarb red, with pale yellow visible between scales, with sterile velar flaps at margin. Flesh yellow, quickly cyanescent, with mild odor and taste. Tubes adnexed, olive brown (4E6), cyanescent, with pores faintly pale reddish brown, cyanescent. Stipe 9-9.5 cm long, 1-2 cm broad, equal, pale red above, deep rhubarb red toward base, white at base, densely subpruinose at apex when young, fibrillose striate to base, with interior pale yellow to yellowish white, cyanescent and with some dull brownish orange in base.
Habitat:

Dry sclerophyll. Eucalyptus sp., Callitris, Allocasuarina. Scattered. On living tree bark.
