Description:

Pileus 3-12 cm broad, convex to plano-convex, dry, with black, erect, fine conic to pyramidal warts, with veil breaking and remaining as remnants at margin. Flesh white, soon reddish orange then black when exposed. Tubes and pores yellowish white (3A2) at first, staining reddish orange then black, adnexed and with decurrent lines extending as coarse alveolate reticulum at apex of stipe, becoming gray to black with age. Stipe 3.5-12 cm long, 8-13 mm broad, equal to slightly broader below, strict or curved, dry, coarsely alveolate reticulate at apex, densely scabrous to heavily pruinose to tomentose below reticulum, forming circumferential bands, dark brownish gray above, black below, pale pinkish gray at base, with interior white staining reddish orange then black.
Habitat:

Wet sclerophyll. Allocasuarina, Eucalyptus microcorys, Syncarpia hillii, Lophostemon confertus. Gregarious. On sand.
