Description:

Pileus 3.7-11 cm, convex, dark brownish (6F6), with a thin yellow line at the margin, slightly rugose (becoming like a mature passion flower fruit when older), staining pinkish when bruised. Hymenophore poroid, bright yellow (3A6), free. Stipe 8-14 x 1-1.8 cm, clavate, bulbous toward the bottom, yellowish near the hymenium, with yellowish scales (3A5), brownish (6F5) and rugose with an irregular reticulum. Flesh whitish, becoming red at the pileus and top of the stip when exposed. Smell sweet, taste mild. Digital pictures. Color codes: Methuen.
