Description:
Pileus 7.5-10 cm broad, convex to plano-convex, dry, pale brownish red to purplish red (11C-D-E8), matted fibrillose, sometimes with the fibrils finely agglutinated into appressed squamules. Flesh yellow to pale yellow, slowly pale blue, with mild odor and taste. Tubes adnate, greenish yellow, staining pale blue, with pores evenly angular, fine, red, cyanescent. Stipe 8.5-9 cm long, 2-3 cm broad, subclavate to clavate, strict or curved, dry, finely alveolate-reticulate at apex, more coarsely so toward base, yellow with hints of red on edges of reticulum, deep rhubarb red near base with white base, with interior pale yellow, slowly pale blue when exposed.
