Description:

Pileus 3-8.5 cm broad, convex to plano convex, dry, matted wooly to squarrose wooly, whitish to yellowish white (3A2-4A2), easily and rapidly staining indigo blue, with slightly extended, sterile margin; veil not apparent. Flesh white, rapidly blue when exposed, with mild odor and taste. Tubes adnexed, yellowish white to pale yellow, with pores stffed when yong, isodiametric, rapidly staining blue. Stipe 5.5-12 cm long, 2-3.5 cm broad, subclavate to clavate, dry, finely appressed lanose, white to yellowish white, often developing pale green tones in situ, readily bluing when bruised, firm, with interior white, sometimes pale brown in the base, solid, becoming pithy, then hollow, rapidly blue.
