Description:

Pileus 3-10 cm broad, convex to plane, dry, deep chocolate brown becoming gray to black, with matted tomentum to fine squamulose scales. Flesh white, changing to pale red then black. Tubes white at first, soon gray to black, staining pale pink then black. Stipe 5-7 cm long, 10-15 mm broad, equal, curved, dry, reticulate beneath a pale grayish brown tomentum, otherwise whitish at apex, dark brown at base, with interior white then pale pink then black.
Habitat:

Dry sclerophyll. Allocasuarina sp., Acacia sp., Eucalyptus sp.. Gregarious. On soil.
