Distribution: Thailand.
Ectomycorrhiza: Growing with Pinus and Castanopsis.
Status & Disposition: A pure white, brown staining 'porcino' in Thailand. Referred to informally as Obtextiporus by Dentinger et al. 2010, Molec. Phyl. Evol 57: 1276-1292.
Commentary: The existence of B. austroedulis and B. albobrunnescens represents an ancient phylogenetic connection to the rest of Boletus sect. Boletus (Dentinger et al. 2010, Molec. Phyl. Evol. 57: 1276-1292; Halling et al. 2014, Mycologia 106: 830-834.)
