Notes:

Type: According to Singer's (Farlowia 2; 123-126. 1945) description of Floridean collections, the type material of this species = Boletellus ananas. In a later Type Studies paper (Sydowia 9: 423. 1955 ), he examined a portion of the Type in K and noted it is the same thing as the part in NY. In this paper he refers to his previous study of the NY portion (Farlowia paper), and equates S. pallescens with another taxon S. ligulatus Cooke also described from Australia (Victoria) and notes this latter is also a synonym of B. ananas. Halling et al (Austral. Syst. Bot. 20: 14-15. 2015), reach another conclusion noting that S. pallecens is a synonym of Boletellus emodensis. TRUE Boletellus ananas does not exist in Australia.
