Description:

Pileus 10-14 cm broad, convex to planoconvex, dry to moist, finely matted subtomentoseto finely matted-felty, pale pinkish to grayish red (9C5) when very young and staining blue, tan to pale brown (6B3-6D4), darker brown when injured, with age, with margin quite irregular and sometimes retaining some pale pink tints. Flesh pale yellow, unchanging, with mild odor and taste. hymenophore adnexed, with bright yellow tubes and pores, staining blue green when injured. Stipe 7-11 cm long, 4-5 cm broad, clavate to abruptly short clavate, up to 8 cm broad at base, tapering and pinched, light to bright yellow and conspicuously reticulate to finely reticulate above (upper third), glabrous and pale yellow toward base, whitish near and at the base, sometimes erratically staining blue, with interior pale yellow, unchanging with age, staining blue to pale blue when young, brownish pink in the base.
Habitat:

Coastal range forest. Quercus, Arbutus. Gregarious. On soil.
