Description:

Gregarious. Pileus 4-10 cm broad, convex to plane, dry, finely subtomentose, with dark gray to black fibrils overlaying a brown to dull cinnamon ground color. Flesh pale yellow to white, up to 15 mm thick, bluing when exposed. Hymenophore shallow, decurrent, poroid, boletinoid (radially arranged pores), bluing when bruised, yellow (3B7). Stipe 3-8 cm long, 10-2 mm broad, curved, central to eccentric, dry, whitish bruising reddish brown, with yellowish brown mycelium at base; interior whitish bluing at first then brown. Gregarious, on soil, humus. Alnus acuminata.
