Description:
Pileus with fine to agglutinated pyramidal dark red scales, frequently with yellow flesh showing between. 4-8.5 cm broad, convex, dry. Flesh yellow in cap and stipe, cyanescent overall, 7-13 cm long, 1-1.5 cm broad, equal, sometimes with a bulbous base, red overall except in a few cases where the stipitipellis has peeled, fibrillose striate, white at base.

Sclerophyll. Allocasuarina torulosa, Backhousia myrtifolia, Syncarpia glomulifera, Eucalyptus pellita (red mahogany). Gregarious. On soil.
