Description:

Pileus 2.5-8 cm broad, hemispheric when young, becoming convex to plano-convex, dry, finely scaly to somewhat coarsely scaly, with scales ochraceous with red pigment in between, flattened and plaque-like to finely recurved, with sterile appendiculate margin. Flesh yellow, quickly cyanescent and making flesh appear white. Tubes adnexed, yellow, cyanescent, with pores yellow at first, becoming pale red to dull reddish brown, cyanescent. Stipe 5.5-10 cm long, 1-2 cm broad, equal to subclavate, dry, whitish with a red band at apex, fibrillose striate to fibrillose, with interior white, changing to brownish orange when exposed, with white mycelium at base.

Habitat:

Dry sclerophyll. Allocasuarina, Eucalyptus. Scattered to gregarious. On soil at base of living trees.
