Description:

Pileus 4.5-9 cm broad, convex to plane, dry, dark apple red to brownish red, and then with some dull green developing as finely appressed squamules become evident, then somewhat subareolate, even at margin and with a faint sterile projection. Flesh deep yellow, quickly cyanescent and deeply so, with mild odor and taste. Tubes adnexed, yellow to greenish yellow, cyancescent then changing to dark brown; pores likewise. Stipe 5-6 cm long, 1-2 cm broad, equal to subclavate, usually pinched at base, dry, finely scurfy-subpruinose, whitish above, red streaked below, with subpruina aggregated into indistinct ridges, deep rhubarb red at base and slightly subtomentose to matted tomentose, with interior deep yellow, deeply and quickly cyanescent, dark red in base.

Sclerophyll. Eucalyptus, Allocasuarina. Gregarious. On soil and humus.
