Description:

Pileus 2-3.7 cm broad, convex to plano-convex, dry, subtomentose to subvelutinous, very dark brown (8F3) or rarely near dark olive brown with red tints near margin. Flesh pale yellow, erratically and slowly bluing in places, with mild odor and taste. Tubulose hymenophore, adnexed, yellow (3A5) at first, becoming pale greenish yellow (3B4), bluing when exposed, with pores concolorous, cyanescent. Stipe 2.5-3 cm long, 5-8 mm broad, dry, equal with a slight taper at base, dep red and heavily pruinose, sometimes fibrillose streaked/subridged toward base, with yellow basal mycelium; interior dull yellowish white above, pinkish below, becoming hollow. Spores smooth.
Habitat:

Montane cloud forest. Quercus costaricensis, Comarostaphylis arbutoides. Gregarious. On soil.
