Commentary: This taxon has unusual characteristics for a Phylloporus. The hymenophore features and the microscopic characteristics together with molecular data confirm placement in Phylloporus. The green color of the pileus is diagnostic and so is the dark color of the flesh, rather than the usual red-brown pilei and the light yellowish or whitish color of the flesh in the rest of the genus. It is important to note that the color of the flesh is not due to oxidation.
