Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to 18 km eastward along PA-263 (Tucuruí-Goianésia do Pará road) in município Breu Branco. Used Google Maps - Earth and Map Views to locate the beginning of road PA-263 in the city of Vila Permanente (south of/adjacent to the city of Tucuruí, which may have once been the location of Tucuruí as dam construction has flooded parts of this region). Beginning at the start of PA-263 (intersection of PA-263 and BR-422), used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to measure approximately 18 km (18.00 km) eastward along this road toward Goianésia do Pará. Used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of this offset along PA-263. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool again to find the approximate linear extent of the road segment within Vila Permanente (used the segment of road within the city instead of the beginning of road PA-263 to incorporate a larger area of uncertainty) by measuring a straight line from the approximate geographic midpoint of PA-263 within Vila Permanente (at: -3.840688, -49.673224) to the approximate farthest extent of this segment of road (at: -3.834357, -49.661660). Input coordinates, coordinate precision (.00001 degrees), coordinate source (locality description), datum (WGS84), linear extent (1.46 km), measurement error (.005 km), and distance precision (1 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
